Thoughts about Under Cover of Chaos
I love a good thriller and Under Cover of Chaos was definitely giving off creepy villian from Criminal Minds vibes. But the best part was that so many of the co-workers (a.k.a suspects) surrounding Stella Fairmont seems relatively normal. So who was just your average quirky co-worker and who was wearing a mask to hide their true serial killer self?
The fact that there were so many possible suspects made this book a real page turner. I just couldn't wait to eliminate or confirm possible suspects. The situation also added to the mood of the book. The idea that a killer could use his job to help him avoid detection...gives me shivers thinking about the possibility even now. Stella Fairmont isn;t your predictable amateur detective. She's been plopped into an unfamiliar environment without any of the backup in the form of friends, family and friendly (or even grumpy) police officers that most amateur detectives rely on. I read the entire book with the feeling that she was entirely on her own and could disappear with barely a ripple - just a dry report filed in some United Nations headquarters office.
