Just attended the monthly library board meeting for my local library - Pottsville Library. If you're under the impression that libraries are buildings full of dusty old books and librarians hissing Shhh!, you haven't been in a library lately. Although they haven't jumped aboard Tiktok yet, our local library is active on Facebook, X/Twitter and Instagram. During our meeting last night, we talked about things ranging from a Metaphysical Fair to Mini Golf in the library to Tonieboxes.
But one thing hasn't changed! I remember summers growing up when my mother would load my brother, my cousin and me in the car to head from our tiny (and library-less) town to the slightly larger Pottsville for Summer Reading Club. I did the same with my children. Well, it's that time again!
This year's theme is:
Adventure Begins at your Library
So if you know anyone ages 1 through 18, invite them to check out what's happening at the
library. They don't even have to be a fan of books. There are Scavenger Hunts, Dungeons & dragons, performers, crafts, ice cream and more.
Don't feel blue if you aren't located near the Pottsville Library. Libraries all over are gearing up for their summer programs. Stop by your local library to see what's in store for students and adults!
