Who are Your Top Five?

Played a game at supper with my husband and son. They had to name five authors. Without looking at the wall of bookshelves across the room. My son picked Homer, Plato, George R.R. Martin, J.R.R. Tolkien and M.G. Leonard. Initially he threw in Dr. Seuss but the judges(me) ruled that one inadmissable. Shout out to his Freshman English teacher! Ms. Reynolds, he still remembers Ulysses and the Odyssey.

Hubby went with H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, Stephen Cannell, J.K. Rowling, and L. Ron Hubbard(a blast from the past!). He tried to sneak in Robert Frost but judges ruled him out as a poet. He also struggled but failed to remember Ian Fleming.

Naturally, my challenge could not be to name authors or they would still be listening to my list. I had to list five actors from the Marvel Universe. I was shocked to learn that Batman didn't count. DC. Marvel. Who keeps track? Apparently, everyone except me!

With great difficulty I came up with Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Andrew Garfield and Marisa Tomei(Spiderman's Aunt May). The judges were iffy about the last two but eventually allowed them.

I recommend this game at your next family dinner. It's fun to see who everyone names.
