I got a sneak peek at a children's picture book that is being released today that could help you introduce your child to holidays around the world. Can this count as my second book for Nonfiction November? I'm hoping to get four books by the end of the month. Yes, my first nonfiction selection of the month, Valiant Women, was a heavy book. I'm branching out into light reading nonfiction now. My next will either be a cookbook or gardening book. My favorites!

Thoughts on Around the World Celebrations
Around the World Celebrations gives us a peek at the action of each celebration in two richly colored illustrations. Some of the holidays I was familiar with but others were completely new to me. These new ones peaked my interest and I started out disappointed that readers just got a tiny glimpse of each holiday. Happily, the last two pages are filled with text boxes, each giving additional information on the holidays featured in Around the World Celebrations. Of course, space is limited. For instance, they included the date of American Thanksgiving but not Canadian Thanksgiving and only two of the seven tenets of Kwanzaa were listed.
I feel this book could be a great jumping off point for introducing young children to new holidays, cultures, foods and country. It would be a fun addition to a classroom library.
