More about The Guests
Who knows what The Guests will bring?
When a Category 5 hurricane is poised to hit their coastal Florida town, the Davies family takes refuge in their waterfront manse. Marlowe, Lee, and their teenage twins invite their close friends to wait out the storm in comfort and style.
Uninvited are the three strangers who dock on the family’s shore right before the storm descends. Brothers Jason and Bo—and Bo’s girlfriend, Darcy—are a charming, helpful trio in need of a safe haven that the Davies are only too happy to provide.
But as the storm outside grows more threatening, so does the tension in the house.
Soon, the lines between family, friends, and strangers blur. Danger mounts with every pointed finger and broken confidence, and long-held secrets are revealed one after another until only one truth remains: not everyone is going to make it out alive.

Thoughts About The Guests
Every once in a while I read a book and think, I have to read all this author's books. Someone! Get me the whole list. We're going to the bookstore right now. I felt that way after reading The Guests. Margot Hunt is on my TBR list. Not the titles. Just the author. Anything she writes I want to read.
When I first meandered into Shoreham, a Florida shore town, through the pages of The Guests, everything was lovely. Yes, there's a hurricane coming but everyone's coming together: putting up storm shutters, making snacks, chilling with friends. Just lovely. But, just as the first hurricane winds begin whipping through the backyard, things start going downhill. Fast.
Hunt does a great job of ratchetting up the claustrophobic feeling of panic in the people trapped in a house together. The Category 5 hurricane quickly becomes the least of their worries. But as she tosses us into the action she also does a few subtle pokes in the ribs. This is happening but -- poke, poke, poke -- there's something else. She keeps rotating the story, showing us a bit from this viewpoint, a bit from that viewpoint. Trying to piece together what's actually happening will keep you guessing -- and reading madly.
If you like a story full of twists and turns in events, characters and motives The Guests is the book for you.
A Little Extra
I can't imagine anything better to do on Halloween that light a few creepy candles, sit down with the leftover trick or treat candy and listen to a scary audiobook. And Margot Hunt is a big fan of audiobooks! You can get all her novels as well as a few novellas on Audiobooks.
I believe all of her books take place in the idyllic Florida shore town of Shoreham that has a decidedly dark side. Who knew Florida could be so spine tingling creepy?
